I’ve uploaded my hacks to blosmail. It’s the BlosxomEmailGateway I’ve setup for Carla’s blog. My improvements are basically that it creates the directories needed for categories as you create them and also makes up mostly random filenames for each blog post. This keeps Carla from having to worry too much about each individual file as she blogs. All that matters to her is the category, the title, and the blog story.

Carla asked me to do a little bit of syntactical clean-up on some of her blog posts. Since she submits the stories via email, I need to edit them remotely on the server. I had previously written some stuff for EmacsAndBlosxom, but it didn’t work for remote files. Since Emacs:TrampMode alows you to edit remote files using ssh, I thought I’d update my save-buffer-same-timestamp to handle that. A little tricky, but all’s well that ends well.

I don’t know whether to be pleased or frightened. I’ve just setup Carla with her own web log. On the one hand, she catches a lot of things I miss. I hate to think how many things about this time in our kid’s lives we’ll forget. Plus, I really value her opinion. I look forward to reading what she thinks is important enough to write about. On the other hand, I can’t help but think I’ve unleashed some terrible monster onto the Internet.
Next thing you know she’ll be fixing HTML errors in my web site. Can a family withstand two Internet geeks?
