Stitches are out

Posted by Doug Fri, 14 Nov 2003 18:32:00 GMT

One of our friends is a nurse. We (really Carla) occationally (more often than not) watch her son while she works. Today she brought her stuff over and pulled the stitches out of Princess. I didn’t see it happen, but Carla said Princess did really well with the whole thing. Carla said she didn’t show any discomfort. So, that saved us about $75. I’m a little nervous that the Vet hasn’t seen Princess to assess her progress. Officially we’re not supposed to have a checkup for several more weeks.

At this point we’re just supposed to make sure Princess gets two five minute walks a day. That doesn’t sound like much, but it’s 10 more minutes a day that she was getting before. wink

Updated Carla's Blog Design

Posted by Doug Thu, 13 Nov 2003 16:49:00 GMT

As a “surprise” I changed Carla’s blog design. She’s always liked smiley faces. What she told me was she wanted the whole thing yellow with bouncing smiley faces. I told her I just couldn’t allow annimations on her site. It would cause me nightmares and other troubled sleep. So, this is a compromise. I guess it may be a copyright violation. I did a google on smile in the images, downloaded about 35 of them and made a collage out of them. The CSS is a rip off from Eric Meyer’s complexspiral demo. It’s a pretty light page weighing in at about 65K. Of course, that may go up a few K once she’s got more conent.

FetchRss Update

Posted by Doug Thu, 13 Nov 2003 14:10:00 GMT

I’ve updated FetchRss to handle Joel’s problem. Basically the story is that when things go wrong between fetchrss and the MTA it’s the publisher of the RssFeeds that hears about it. This update adds the “Sender” field so that the MTA will complain to the message sender rather than the author of the content. If you upgrade, note that your message cache will be invalidated and you’ll get duplicate copies of the messages. This really shouldn’t affect anyone who has a properly configured FetchRss. The only people it really affects are newbies who are having trouble setting it up.
